Surprise!!

Monday, February 24, 2014

Pest Control is full of surprises, most of those are when a totally different pest to the one expected or reported by the client is found. The most frequent of these is mice that turn out to be rats or even squirrels! Occasionally, in summer, wasps eating through timber are mistaken for mice!

false widow spider found in Berkshire

On a recent, regular, commercial client visit I came across this False Widow Spider. On checking the rodent bait boxes I found one had a lot of spider webs in it – this is often a good sign as it shows no rodents are present. However a little more investigation found this specimen and several more in close proximity.

Due to the number of staff that pass through the area our client made arrangements to have the area cordoned off and we treated it out of regular working hours.
